The fat cells in the treated areas are broken down and absorbed, metabolism of the area is increased, and the end result is a smoother, more regular appearance, and general reduction in hip, thigh and stomach size. Patients may notice a slight temporary increase in urine output following treatment. This is because the broken down fat cells are absorbed and excreted via the lymphatic system.

Each treatment takes approximately 45 minutes. Treatments are usually scheduled twice a week for four to eight weeks. You should notice a visible smoothing effect after four treatments, however this varies between patients. It may take up to 16 treatments to achieve optimal results. Monthly follow-up treatments are then suggested to maintain these results.

In a recent pilot study, a 65% reduction in the appearance of cellulite was noted and average hip size was reduced by 3.2cm.

A lubricating spray is applied prior to treatment and most patients describe the process as an enjoyable, warm massage. No special suits or stockings

are required during treatment.

The treatment is painless but if the radiofrequency coupling is broken with the skin during a pass, a pinching sensation may be felt. The treatment area may appear flushed or pink from the heat for a short while, and may feel warm for several hours after treatment. Bruising is uncommon, although the risk increases if you take aspirin products or blood thinners. Bruises are temporary and resolve in 1-2 weeks.
