Mid-Face Lift
Also known as: Mini-Lift - Cheek Lift - Weekend Facelift
A Mid-Face Lift can help remove facial wrinkles, lift sagging cheeks, and restore a younger, more refreshed appearance.
The triangular area formed between the two corners of the eye and the corner of the mouth represents the mid-face. As a person ages, the effects of gravity and time cause sagging of the skin and a loss of elasticity in this area, deepening the smile lines and the vertical lines that form on either side of the mouth.
While these effects are still minimal a mid-face lift can be performed to tighten and reposition the skin, producing a more rested, refreshed look. A mid-face lift is a great way to take years off your face, and the results look natural.

Many doctors choose to perform a mid-face lift endoscopically,
using a tiny fibre optic lens attached to a camera
connected to a television monitor, which allows the doctor to see where he/she is operating by watching the monitor and manipulating the tiny instruments externally.
During the procedure, tiny incisions are made in the lower eyelid to eliminate fat pads and eyelid creases. Then, the skin in the mid-facial area is gently lifted - 90% upward and 10% back (the reverse of a standard facelift), and excess skin is removed. The procedure lifts the cheek fat back up onto the cheekbones, raises the outer eyebrows, and lifts up the corners of the mouth.
A mid-face lift procedure takes 1-2 hours. It is done on an outpatient basis usually under local anaesthesia with sedation. Many dissolving sutures are utilised under the skin surface and the skin incision itself is closed with fine surface sutures, which are generally removed within 4-6 days.
Afterwards, there will be swelling and some pain. The swelling lasts approximately 48-72 hours, after which it will gradually diminish. Any bruising will usually disappear within one to two weeks. Continued healing under the skin surface may last for three to four months. You should be able to return to sedentary-type work within 7-10 days after surgery. Strenuous activity should be avoided for three to four weeks.
A mid-face lift is the ideal procedure for younger patients in their 30's and 40's who are not yet ready for a conventional facelift, but who would like take a few years off of their appearance.
