When interviewing a doctor/surgeon at the first consultation, it is essential that you ask the right questions.

The answers will help you decide if this is the right doctor/surgeon for your needs.  

• Is the majority of your practice devoted to cosmetic surgery/procedures?
• What percentage of your practice is cosmetic versus reconstructive?
• What are your qualifications for performing my intended procedure?
• Can I view a copy of your professional biography, which summarises your training, qualifications and credentials relating to this procedure?

• How many of these procedures have you performed to date?
• How often do you perform this procedure?
• What are the risks and possible complications?
• What happens if something goes wrong?
• Will any revision procedures cost extra?
• Is it the right procedure for me?
• Are there any alternatives?
• Can I view before-and-after photos of your patients who have had this procedure?
• Can I speak with any of your past patients about their experience with this procedure?

• Do you have hospital privileges or a surgical facility where you perform your procedures/operations?
• Where is it located?
• Do you recommend a recovery facility for after the procedure?
• What is the approximate cost of this procedure including anaesthetist, surgical assistant, pathology tests, hospital/surgical facility and post-operative follow-up?
• Are their any Medicare, Health Insurance or Tax Rebates applicable?
• Is GST included in the cost?
• Do you have a finance/payment plan option?
• Do you understand the result I am trying to achieve?
• Are you confident you can help me achieve this result?
