Glycolic Peel
Glycolic peels are fruit acid (AHA) based preparations. The solution lightly buffs the skins surface removing and smoothing the outer layer of skin cells.
By increasing the turnover of cells and exfoliation, glycolic acid peels are effective for decreasing the appearance of small wrinkles, reducing age and sun related hyper-pigmentation, unclogging pores and helping to control acne. Peels give the skin a healthy glow. It is an excellent treatment for those who are interested in reducing signs of ageing.

Glycolic acid works on the upper layer of the skin called the "epidermis" to cause its normal shedding to become more even. The most superficial layer of the epidermis is called the "keratin". This layer becomes more uniform and less clumpy after a peel giving the skin a smoother feel.
Prior to treatment the skin is thoroughly cleansed and petroleum jelly is applied to the corners of the eyes, nose and mouth. The glycolic acid solution will then be applied to the face and left for several minutes. The entire process usually takes about 20 minutes.
No anaesthetic is required, and patients will feel a burning or tingling sensation during the peel.
The treated skin will turn red or pink but heals without crusting.
Peels are virtually non-irritating and you may be able to apply make-up immediately following the peel, thereby returning to work and normal activities. No recuperation is needed.
Generally, a series of three to six treatments are required either weekly or fortnightly.
It is essential that you wear sunscreen after a peel as sunlight on the treated area can cause discolouration.
Average Price Range: $95-$150 per treatment
