Arm Lift

An Arm Lift, also known as Brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm.

With age, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby.  Surgeons will discuss brachioplasty with patients who want to tighten this skin and look as good as they feel.

In some cases your surgeon may suggest that liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms.

Brachioplasty surgery usually takes two to three hours to perform. The procedure is done under "twilight" sedation (a combination of local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation) or general anaesthesia.

In order to remove the unwanted skin, an incision is made from near the elbow into the armpit. The skin and fat are gently elevated off the underlying muscles of the arm and the excess skin and fat are removed. Then the skin is redraped over the underlying muscles. The incisions are carefully closed to minimise scarring.

After

A sterile dressing is applied to the incisions and a compression garment is placed over your arms. This compression garment or binder helps support your arms during healing, decreases postoperative swelling, and helps decrease any bruising that may occur.

You will notice an improvement in your arm contour immediately. However, your shape will continue to improve in the following weeks as the mild swelling subsides. Initial healing usually occurs in 10-14 days.

You should be up and walking the day following surgery, although your arms will be sore for several days. You should able to resume your normal daily activities within several days following surgery, and you should be able to resume all of your physical activities within three weeks of surgery.

Scarring is inevitable with arm lift surgery. However, your scars will continue to fade over time and will become less and less noticeable.

Average Cost: $5000-$7000
